So it was another rainy day in Glasgow and I wanted to get out the house and boy-oh-boy I’m glad I did! I decided to try somewhere new called the Garscube Playrooms.
It was a lot like a toddler group so designed for pre school kids and no sign of any cliquey mums. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, especially Theresa who showed us around.I have been to many places but the Playrooms is without a doubt one of a kind.
Room 1 is for arts and crafts: little tables and chairs for eating and drinking, a table with jigsaws and puzzles and a small kitchen area with microwave, kettle and fridge for adults to make a cuppa.
Room 2 is filled with fun for little ones with play houses, prams, dolls, kitchen, rails full off dressing up outfits so this room totally engages the mind and I loved seeing all the kids playing together through imaginative play.
And finally Room 3, to my surprise, was a soft play room full of shapes and slides including a ball pit.
Places like this little gem are a lifeline for parents and provide a great opportunity to mingle with other mums, dads and grandparents with children of a similar age to your own. Aside from the social benefits of playing together, they get to play with new toys, paint new masterpieces for your wall and craft something different.
I was shocked at the fees but in a good way as a family Membership is only £15 for the year. A single session fee is £2.00 for one child plus £1.00 for each additional child. Bargain compared to the over priced charges from the usual soft play complex’s.
Instead of coming home with an empty purse and a headache, I’ve come home with money in my pockets and a smile.
I love the playrooms and we’ll be visiting again soon.
If you live in the Glasgow area give it a try. Mum and dads…I promise you won’t regret it!
